Hello Peacebird, and Welcome to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia! You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but while you are logged in under your user name, you enable many benefits, including:

  • The ability to view all your contributions via a "My contributions" link above.
  • Your own user page.
  • Your own talk page which, if you choose, also allows users to send you messages without knowing your e-mail address. (This is where you are now.)
  • Your use of your own personal watchlist to which you can add articles that interest you.
  • Your ability to rename pages.
  • Your ability to upload images.
  • Your ability to customize the appearance and behavior of the website.
  • Your eligibility to become an administrator.
  • Your right to be heard in votes and elections
  • While logged in under your user name, your IP address is no longer visible to other users.
