The U.S. Army Military History Institute (USAMHI) is an institute of the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center. Our mission is to preserve the Army’s history and ensure access to historical research materials. We serve as the primary facility where researchers study Army history. Images on our web site that are in the public domain may be used without permission. If you use images from our web site, we ask that you credit us as the source.
