[edit] Ages of consent in North America

Thanks for your edits to the article ages of consent in North America. They appear to have improved the readability of the article. However, since some of your edits involved changing text & links in the original article, it might not be the best idea to mark those edits as minor. minor edits are ordinarily used where the change is nearly unnoticable, such as spelling or punctuation corrections. I thought I'd present this to you as something to think about. Regarding Image:Ritual of the Calling of the Engineer Stamp 2000.JPG, do you happen to have a version that doesn't have the bright light or flash in the middle? It's somewhat distracting. The image itself is nice, though.

By the way, I've proposed merging your new article Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer 1925-2000 into The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer. See this discussion for details. Mindmatrix 18:16, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Re: [1]. While I too do not wish to generate an arguement on this point, I would like to note that the policy I am operating under on this is actually *more* flexible than a number of people would have it. There's a fair bit of discussion on making it even more conservative and restrictive. With respect to userboxes, the policy is fundamentally and legally sound. Consider; are you permitted to make bumper stickers with a given company's logo on it? Of course not; this is illegal if the logo is copyrighted/trademarked. Userboxes are a digital equivalent of a bumper sticker. --Durin 12:43, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey PCStuff, we were asked to not publically reproduce images of the iron ring. Although, you are free to do as you wish, I think that posting the image of the ring is disrespectful.

Regarding your edit to the article ages of consent in North America, the original purpose of the text "Current to November 24, 2005" was to note the last time that the wikipedia text was updated. But it's since been subverted by successive edits and is probably best left out all together. I wasn't really in favour of the idea in the first place. --Monotonehell 13:36, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Page should be kept. Size zeros are a relatively (last 20 years or so) new concept in women's fashion, and some people (especially men) may want to read up on it. Additionally, I invite the initial wikipedian who added the afd tag to voice his or her objections to this page, so issues can be discussed openly. It's disingenuous to nominate a page for afd and leave no comments.--PCStuff 03:48, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

What do you mean "leave no comments"? The AfD template clearly states:
"Please share your thoughts on the matter at this article's entry on the Articles for deletion page.
Yet you decided not to even look at that page. And then you accuse somebody of nominating an article for deletion and giving no reason, when you haven't even looked for it? -- Smjg 14:05, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:University of Ottawa Logo.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
