Talk:Paul Pressler/Comments
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paul Pressler is not the hero this article makes him appear to be. While the article credits Pressler with the expansion of the Disneyland Resort, it downplays the criticism he received for the new Tomorrowland of 1998 and Disney's California Adventure in 2001.
The article also implies that, despite the harsh criticism that Pressler received, the company saw record profits in the theme park division. This may be true, but these "record profits" were actually short-term accomplishments that did long-term damage to the company's heritage and success.
Lastly, the events of September 11, 2001 should not have been exploited to imply the reason for an attendance decline. Disney's California Adventure was already experiencing poor attendance since its opening day on February 8, 2001. Just read the Wikipedia article on Disney's California Adventure and the park's initial lack of success. It wasn't until October 17, 2007 that the new leadership of the Walt Disney Company announced a $1.1 billion dollar plan to revamp Pressler's highly criticized attempt at creating a new Disney theme park.

I would like to see sources for these claims:
Pressler joined The Disney Store as president in 1993 and many herald his period presiding over the chain of stores as the best in the its history. The store opened up hundreds of new shops all over the world and was making larger profits for the company than the legendary Walt Disney Feature Animation at one point. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.7.18.239 (talk) 09:05, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
