Anyone wanting to work up some of the history here should know there's a good French wikipedia article on pau. --Wetman 17:15, 30 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Charles of Sweden had little chances to born in the castle (though it became also a chateau during the Renaissance, it was built and remains a castle) since it was no more used as a chateau by that time and since he was raised in a middle class (not to say poor) family from Pau before becoming a layer. He was a true self made man who made his way through the army and ended up king of Sweden.
It could be interesting to mention that the chateau hosted Adb el kader, le last Algerian leader before France colonial power, the time he was exiled en retained in France.
[edit] Gottingen
Discrepancy between Gottingen page and Pau page as to the year of twinning. Anybody know? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.190.150.169 (talk) 08:13, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
