Paul Xuereb (21 July 1923 - 6 September 1994), Maltese political figure and writer. He was Speaker of the House of Representatives of Malta July, 1986 - February, 1987. Xuereb was acting president of Malta February 16, 1987 - April 4, 1989.
As Malta's Head of State for two years, he is sometimes listed as a President or President ad interim, but was never officially sworn in as one. Years after his death, his wife Edwidge said on local television that her husband's wish was to be considered as president rather than "acting president".
