Paul Desiré Nestor Verschaffelt CMG was born in Napier, New Zealand on 21 May 1887. He was a barrister, solicitor, and the third Public Service Commissioner in New Zealand.
He died in Napier on 16 February 1959, survived by his wife and the three children of his first marriage.
