From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paul Gillis (born December 31, 1963 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a retired Canadian ice hockey forward.

Gillis started his National Hockey League career with the Quebec Nordiques in 1983. He also played for the Chicago Blackhawks and Hartford Whalers. He left the NHL after the 1993 season.

During his coaching career with the Quad City Mallards in Davenport, Iowa in 1997, Paul Gillis began an extra-marital affair with Rebecca Callaway, a waitress. At the beginning of the affair, Gillis' wife in Canada was pregnant with their third child. Upon learning about the affair, Mrs. Gillis promptly hired a private detective to follow Ms. Callaway. Enough proof was provided to the divorce court to prove adultery, and Gillis was ordered to pay child support and substantial alimony payments to support the family he abandoned. After leaving the Quad City Mallards, Gillis was hired as head coach of the Danbury Trashers in Connecticut. The team was dissolved less than two years later by the FBI amidst proof of mob connections. Gillis has not been charged at this time.

He is currently the head coach of the Odessa Jackalopes.
