Paul Armentano

Paul Armentano has served for over ten years as a researcher and policy analyst for NORML and the NORML Foundation in Washington, DC. Mr. Armentano's writing has appeared in over 300 magazines, newspapers, and online journals, including The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, The Christian Science Monitor, Reason (magazine), Congressional Quarterly, and Playboy. His political commentaries have been published by numerous think tanks and foundations, and have been syndicated nationally. He has also contributed chapters to more than a dozen anthologies published by McGraw-Hill, Thomas Gale, and Nation Books, among others.

Mr. Armentano has long been considered an expert in the field of marijuana policy. He has spoken at numerous conferences and college campuses on the issue, testified before several state legislatures and federal bodies, and assisted dozens of criminal defense attorneys on cases pertaining to the use of medicinal cannabis, the impact of cannabis on psychomotor skills, and drug testing. He has been quoted as a policy expert by hundreds of newspapers both nationally and overseas, and has appeared on numerous media programs, including PBS, NPR, and ABC Radio.

Mr. Armentano previously served as a consultant to several international research organizations, including GW Pharmaceuticals in England and Health Canada, on various health-related issues.

He writes regularly for Heads Magazine, as well as for numerous alt-weeklies and film magazines in the United States.
