Patuakhali Sadar is located at 22.3542° N 90.3181° E . It has 55194 units of house hold and total area 439.51 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Patuakhali Sadar has a population of 306517. Males constitute are 50.12% of the population, and females 49.88%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 152588. Patuakhali Sadar has an average literacy rate of 42.6% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
