Patricia Fargnoli

Patricia Fargnoli is an award-winning poet, the current New Hampshire Laureate, and retired psychotherapist whose books of poetry include Necessary Light (1999 Utah State University Press), winner of the May Swenson Book Award; Lives of Others (2001 Oyster River Press); Small Songs of Pain (Pecan Grove Press 2003); and Duties of the Spirit (2005 Tupelo Press). Duties of the Spirit won the Jane Kenyon Literary Award for Outstanding Poetry by a New Hampshire poet. She is the recipient of a MacDowell Fellowship and has served as an Associate Editor of The Worcester Review. A resident of Walpole, New Hampshire, she is a member of the New Hampshire Arts Council Touring Roster and of the New Hampshire Writers Project. She teaches classes in the Lifelong Learning Program at Keene State College. Her poems have also appeared in such journals as Poetry, Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, The Indiana Review, Mid-American Review, and Nimrod and others.
She has three children; Kenneth, Michael, and Diana. She also has four grandchildren; Alycia, Joseph Fargnoli, Joshua, and Jessica.
