Patricia Eddington

Patricia Eddington represents District 3 in the New York State Assembly, which comprises Patchogue, Medford, New York, Coram and Yaphank, among other neighboring communities within Suffolk County, New York. She is a member of the Working Families Party.

First elected to the state legislature in 2000, she is the current Chairwoman of the Libraries and Education Technology Committee within the Assembly, in addition to serving as a member of the Health, Higher Education and Governmental Operations committees.

In 2006, Patricia Eddington was cited by the State of New York, and subsequently served with a warrant for failure to pay income taxes on her two state jobs, including her income as a member of the Assembly[1].

[edit] Votes Against Veterans

In May 2008, the Ronkonkoma Review reported that Eddington shot down legislation from advancing out of the Assembly Health Committee that would have enabled returning soldiers to easily earn gainful employment in New York as emergency medical technicians (EMTs). The newspaper noted that Eddington, "wants to withdraw our troops now, but once they're home she can't be bothered to help them find a decent job."

Eddington is being opposed by Scott Salimando for State Assembly. The election will be held November 4, 2008.

[edit] Constituent Opposition

Patricia Eddington has had a significant opposition from her constituents and her representation thereof in the State Assembly. Eddington’s critics have started a campaign against her called Dump Eddington that accuses Eddington of raising taxes over $8 billion in her time in the New York State Assembly.
