Pat and Brendan is a Melbourne based Alternative band formed in 2003, originally a duo featuring Pat McKenna on guitar and Brendan Kelly on piano-accordion.

After releasing their debut album "!" in May 2007, McKenna entered the duo into a local Push Start Battle of the Bands heat, not actually expecting to be chosen to compete. Upon receiving the news that they had been included in the lineup, the duo decided that in order to stand a chance of winning the battle, they had better recruit a band. They asked their friends Leo Lionheart and Josh Wayman to accompany them on drums and bass guitar/keyboards, respectively. After only a week of rehearsals with the band, they won the Maroondah heat of the Push Start battle in July 2007, and soon after asked Josh O'Riley join the band on bass guitar, allowing Josh Wayman to focus on his keyboard duties. The next Push Start heat involved the winners from all over the Eastern Melbourne Suburbs, and was headlined by hard rock band Airbourne. The competition was tight, but Pat and Brendan came out victorious, and now await the Push Start Battle of the Bands finals, which takes place during Push Over Festival in March 2008, headlined by bands such as Gyroscope, Shihad, Cog and many more.
