Pat Moylan (born 1949) is a former Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Blackrock and with the Cork senior inter-county team from 1973 until 1981.
[edit] Playing career
Moylan played his club hurling with the famous Blackrock club in Cork and had much success. The success began in 1971 when he won his first senior county title. This win was later converted into a set of Munster and All-Ireland club medals. Two years later in 1973 Moylan repeated this feat by capturing his second set of county, provincial and All-ireland club medals. The club success continued in 1975 when Moylan won a third county title. Once again the Cork club dominated and a third Munster club title was soon added to his collection. Unfortunately, Blackrock were later defeated by James Stephens in the All-Ireland club final. A fourth county championship title was won by Moylan in 1978. This was quickly followed by a fourth Munster club medal and a record third All-Ireland club medal. The following year Moylan finished off a great decade by winning a fifth county medal and a fifth Munster club medal.

Moylan first came to prominence as a hurler in the mid-1960s as a member of the Cork minor hurling team. He won a Munster minor medal in 1966 before adding a second to his collection in 1967. He later captained his native-county to victory in the All-Ireland minor final. Moylan subsequently graduated on to the county's under-21 side where he enjoyed much more success. He was a key part of the Cork team that won three consecutive Munster and All-Ireland under-21 titles in 1968, 1969 and 1970. In doing so Cork became the first team to win three-in-a-row at under-21 level.
Moylan first tasted senior success in 1976 when he won his first senior Munster title. This was later converted into a senior All-Ireland medal following a great victory over Wexford. The game itself has come to be referred to as 'Pat Moylan's All-Ireland final' due to the influence he had on the game. Cork were eight points down after six minutes, however, they won the game thanks to Moylan scoring ten points. For this he was presented with an All-Star award. In 1977 Moylan missed Cork's Munster final victory over Clare, however, he came on as a substitute in the All-Ireland final against Wexford to capture a second All-Ireland medal. In 1978 he was back as a full member of the team as he won a second provincial medal. Moylan later won a third consecutive All-Ireland medal following a win over Kilkenny, as Cork completed the famous three-in-a-row. The following year Moylan won his third Munster medal as a player, however, Galway accounted for Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final. Following this Cork's championship fortunes took a downturn, however, Moylan did win back-to-back National Hurling League medals in 1980 and 1981. He retired from inter-county hurling after these wins.
