Pat Gilroy is a former Dublin Gaelic football player. He plays his club football for St Vincents. Gilroy was formerly tipped to succeed Liam Mulvhill as the GAA’s Director General.[1] Pat is the son of former Dublin footballer Jackie Gilroy. This offer never materialised as the position was eventually given to Monaghan Paraic Duffy who has been appointed for a seven year period.[2]
[edit] Football Career
He won an all-Ireland medal with Dublin in 1995, with an appearance as a substitute. Gilroy was outstanding at midfield and half forward for Dublin in the early to mid 1990's. Gilroy won his first Dublin Senior Football Championship medal with St Vincents in 2007 as a substitute. Pat then went on to win the Leinster Senior Club Football Championship final against Tyrrellspass of Westmeath with a starting place on the team.[2] Pat won the 2008 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship with St Vincents in a hard fought game.[3]
