Pasadena High School (PHS) is a four year comprehensive secondary school located in Pasadena, California. The school was first established in the late 1880s.[1]
Approximately 2900 culturally diverse students attend each year. In the 2005-06 school year, the student body was made up of 47.2% Latino/Hispanic, 25.2% African-American, 22.1% are White, 3.2% are Asian, 1.9% Filipino, and 0.5% Pacific Islander, out of a total of 2,633 students enrolled.[2]
PHS is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
PHS is the most populated high school in Pasadena, California; in addition, residents of Sierra Madre and Altadena are zoned to Pasadena High School.
PHS has a long-standing rivalry with Muir High School. The two schools compete in a football game known as the Turkey Tussle. The game usually takes place before the homecoming dance and is at the Rose Bowl.[3]
