[edit] 'Clergy' section

I'm confused by the purpose of the Clergy section. A bishop, for example, is rarely attached to a specific church; nor is an archdeacon or archbishop. Are these fields meant to be used to list the bishop etc of the diocese the church is in (as they are at Durham Cathedral? If not, what are they for? Are there denominations where someone might be a bishop of a single church? (If someone who is a bishop is also vicar of a church, they should be listed as 'vicar', not 'bishop'). I agree - I've removed them from the template — PMJ 18:56, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Suggested move

Since this template is an infobox I would like to propose that this template be renamed to Infobox parish church to go along with Wikipedia standards. ~Dan9186 November 23, 2007 19:26 (UTC)

[edit] rename and/or expand?

I'd agree with the above suggestion about renaming to "Template:Infobox parish church".

I see there's been a lot of discussion [here], and there's a {{tl:Template:Infobox church2}} which is purely about church life and organisation. Surely many articles will include both the architecture and history of a building and something about the church life which goes on there today?

I see that the template page here says "See also template:Infobox religious building". It would be useful to have a template which included both the architectural stuff from that template and the organisational stuff from this template. Might also be more appropriate to call it "Template:Church (building plus)", or some such unused name, as not all churches will be parish churches. Irrelevant fields can always be omitted! [edit] Whitespace

Where this infobox template is being used, there seems to a lot of whitespace at the top of the article. However, I can't quite figure out what in the template might be causing it. howcheng {chat} 18:16, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Fixed - the adders of some recent parameters hadn't been as careful as they might have been. TSP (talk) 19:32, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Expanded infobox template: {{Infobox church/sandbox}}

During a discussion at "Wikipedia:Templates for deletion/Log/2008 February 21#Template:Infobox churches and cathedrals", it was proposed that the templates {{Infobox church}}, {{Infobox churches and cathedrals}} and {{Parish church}} be merged. I've created a prototype merged template for discussion at {{Infobox church/sandbox}}. The documentation for the template is at Template:Infobox church/doc. Your comments and help with improving the template are welcome – please discuss the matter at the Infobox church talk page.

If everyone is happy with {{Infobox church/sandbox}}, then {{Infobox church}} can be replaced with that template and the templates {{Infobox churches and cathedrals}} and {{Parish church}} nominated for deletion. — Cheers, JackLee talk 13:46, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Could we have something for listed building status (UK) or equivalent, in the architecture section? And "location" near the top - it's a long way down to the address field, and church names, town names, can be ambiguous. Should there perhaps also be an image in the infobox?
