Talk:Parakeet
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"used ... in Australia colloquially for many species." - I'm not sure where this came from, but in my experience (as an Australian) it's demonstrably false. The term "parakeet" is almost unknown to average Australians (perhaps in the breeding community it's more common). "Parrot" and "budgie" are very common. Paulgear 05:05, 20 June 2007 (UTC). They do not like people. Although, if you are kind and care for your parakeet it will depend on you. Do not expect it to love you.You are its food sorce and friend. If the topic is parakeet, then the article should be about the term parakeet, not the care of budgies. --Kraftlos 20:35, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Wiki doesn't address English Parakeets. My understanding is they took the Australian 'keet and though breeding techniques changed the look and size of the bird. I've always owned English budgies. This is an important area not disucssed and an expert should address this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.205.239.124 (talk) 14:58, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
