Talk:Paradise Syndrome

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I use it to describe an aspect of my own psychology. I have three gorgeous girlfriends that I love deeply, who love me deeply, who get on well with each other and have their own lives away from me. The absolute joy I feel is balanced by a deep anxiety that no matter how wonderful this all is, I can't believe that it isn't all going to get snatched away from me.

I first heard of the syndrome when it was used to describe panic attacks suffered by David A Stewart of The Eurhythmics, in this case that although he had so much money he was secure for life, years as a struggling musician left him feeling that it couldn't last.

To me Paradise Syndrome is this "it can't possibly last" feeling rather than a more general condition.
