Parameshwara College, Jaffna

Parameshwara College, Jaffna -one of the oldest Hindu Schools started by Sir Ponnampalam Ramanathan[[1]] 

in 1921 for Boys, later on he built a Sivan Temple also in the school compound for the students for prayers. This school was built in 36 acres of land with facility for expansion.His idea was to make the school a University.At the start the school had classes for London Matriculation & Cambridge Exams.In 1974 the school was taken over by the Government and made University of Jaffna[2] and the students and teachers who were attending the school were sent to near by schools. The old Majestic building [3]is still there as the entrance to[4] University of Jaffna.
