The track was written by Cheín García-Alonso, Lester Mendez and Enrique Iglesias. It became his 16th number-one single in the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks, tying the record held by Luis Miguel on that chart. "Para Qué La Vida" is the only Spanish-language song, which have been played over 1,000,000 times on United States.

The track debuted in the United States Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart at number 39 in March 29, 2003[1], and rise to number 1 nine weeks later[2], spending one week at the summit. The single spent eighteen weeks in the chart.
