Category:Parmesan painters

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The most famous Renaissance painters emerging from Parma would be Antonio Allegri, known as Correggio, and Francesco Mazzola, known as Parmigianino. Both artists would influence later Bolognese schools; Corregio's works appear to have made a strong impression on the Carracci. However, unlike the Carracci, neither Correggio nor Parmigianino established large studios, or trained many pupils directly, and thus in a sense there is no continuous school of Parmesan painting.
