Pan Gongkai

Pan Gongkai (Chinese: 潘公凯) (1947-) [1], is a renowned Chinese painter, and the current president of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Beijing, China. He also was the former president of the China Academy of Art.

[2] Pan is the son of the great painter Pan Tianshou. He was born in Ninghai County, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province on Jan 24, 1947.
Pan did his secondary study at the MIddle School Attached to the Zhejiang Academy of Art (Zhejiang Academy of Art is the preexistance of the China Academy of Art). He studied painting at the Zhejiang Academy of Art (current China Academy of Art).
1979 Nov ~ 1984 Nov, Pan was a lecture of the Department of Chinese Painting, China Academy of Art. 1987, he became the head of the department. 1992, he was a visiting professor to the United States, and received an honorary doctor degree of art there. 1996 Apr ~ 2001 May, he was the president of the China Academy of Art. He has been the president of Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) since 2001 Jun.
