The small Pampas Cat only weighs on average 3-4 kg (6.6-8.8 lbs), with extreme individuals recorded up to 6 or 7 kg (13.2-15.5 lbs).{{Fact|date=April 2007}} The body length is 65 cm (25 in) and the tail length is 30 cm (12 in). It often has brown fur with large 'rossette' markings, though sometimes melanism occurs in the species.{{Fact|date=April 2007}} The Pampas Cat lives in the grasslands of [[Brazil]], as well as light woodland.{{Fact|date=April 2007}} It is able to breed from about 2 years of age, and the litters usually contain 1-3 kittens.{{Fact|date=April 2007}} The conservation status is unsure, but it is thought to be rare.{{Fact|date=April 2007}}
The Pampas Cats is a small cat with thick (up to 7cm long) fur,{{Fact|date=November 2007}} which it can puff out when it feels threatened to make itself look larger.{{Fact|date=November 2007}} In appearance it is slightly similar to the [[Andean Mountain Cat]] though its fur colour and pattern varies.{{Fact|date=November 2007}} It generally has broken-up stripes that look slightly like long rosettes, though some have been seen with dark stripes.{{Fact|date=November 2007}} Its fur ranges from a pale brown to rusty red.{{Fact|date=November 2007}}
Its habitat is mainly open pampas lands of [[Argentina]] and [[Chile]], though it sometimes lives on mountains,{{Fact|date=November 2007}} up to several thousand feet high. It also can be found in open woodlands.{{Fact|date=November 2007}} It can climb relatively well.{{Fact|date=November 2007}}
Its prey is guinea pigs and other small mammals and birds, though it has been known to steal eggs from penguin nests.{{Fact|date=November 2007}} Little is known about its hunting methods.{{Fact|date=November 2007}}
Its litter size is 1-3,{{Fact|date=November 2007}} though little is known about its breeding habits in the wild.{{Fact|date=November 2007}}
