[edit] NPOV Dispute

The last paragraph reads the following right now:

Palestinians with American, British, and other Western Passports still suffer from Israeli suspicion on the grounds of security. They are sometimes turned away from Israeli border checkpoints because they were born in the Palestinian territories or have family living there

I find this very biased considering the fact that it mentions an Israeli bias towards ANY Palestinians as a matter of fact and an unneccessary generalization of the situation at the Israeli border checkpoints and the related procedures.

[edit] Controversy surrounding the ethnic term

"Palestinian American" has brought in controversial criticism on the existence of a nationality, despite Palestine is not yet an independent country free of Israeli occupation (the West Bank and Gaza strip). They could well be classified as Arab American, Jordanian American, Egyptian American and Syrian American, but their interest group the Palestinian-American Council (PAC) call themselves that.

It's true there is such thing as Palestinians: a people of local Arab/Muslim origins before the creation of the state of Israel, but the term "Palestinian American" indicates an actual country of Palestine exists (if not de facto) and they deserve an ethnic nationality term like Israeli Americans whom are Americans of Israeli background, be it Jewish (see Arab citizens of Israel) or otherwise.

Controversial as it seems, the use of the term "Palestinian" evokes images of a people occupied by another country (Israel) against their will. But not all Palestinians entirely hold a grudge against Israel or Zionism, and good point the article stated there are Palestinian Jews and Christians, but the term "Palestinian" carries a heavy political overtone in Islamic fundamentalism whom find Israel an occupational force. + 71.102.53.48 (talk) 06:45, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
