Palm Cove Elementary School is located in 11601 Washington Street, Pembroke Pines, Florida. The current principal is Mrs. Dorothy Cain.
In 1992, Palm Cove Elementary became a school in the Broward County School District. That first year, Palm Cove shared a site with Sheridan Park Elementary. In 1993, Palm Cove moved into a new building in Pembroke Pines. The first principal, Dr. Joanne Harrison, decided that it would be unique if the school had a baseball theme. A time capsule was encased in a concrete baseball diamond at the school's entrance. The capsule contains items that were popular in 1994, such as music, videos, and pictures. In 2004, principal Linda Pazos opened the time capsule. The opening was viewed by current students, past students, family members, faculty, staff, and community members. Each class participated in creating new items, such as photo albums and posters, to place back into the time capsule for another 10 years.
In addition to the time capsule, Palm Cove has received the coveted "5 Star School Award" for 8 years, the Golden School Award for 10 years, the award-winning PTA, the "Little Red Schoolhouse Award" in 1999, and most importantly, its recognition as a school reform model Co-nect National Demonstration Site.
An additional 12 classrooms will open in October of 2005.
