Coordinates: Palej is a census town in the Bharuch district of the Indian state of Gujarat. Cotton is a major product of the industrial area surrounding the town. Palej supports the daily needs of many small nearby villages. A railway and a national highway run through Palej, and these connections have catalyzed the town's growth.

According to the 2001 Indian census[1], Palej had a population of 10,872. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Palej has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 61%. In Palej, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
In palej, there is a tomb of great sufi saint Hazrat Mota Miya baba Saheb and Hazrat Farid Baba Saheb.
