[edit] Summary

Map of the British Mandate of Palestine and Transjordan

[edit] Possible errors

This map is wrong since it does not include the eastern part of the Jordan Valley, north of the Yarmouk River, as part of British Palestine.

This map is wrong since it shows a future border between Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The border between British Transjordan and Saudi Arabia used to be a straighter, horizontal line that left Transjordan a small Gulf of Aqaba shoreline. In later years, Saudi Arabia gave Jordan a longer shoreline in exchange for desert area to the east.

This map is wrong since it omits Lake Hula, north of Lake Galilee. Maps of British Palestine era show that lake, which had been dried up by Israel in the 1950’s.

This map is wrong since it shows Tel Aviv and Jaffa as a single city. These two cities were independent of each other and served as economic centers to two competing communities. Only after the end of the British Mandate over Palestine that Tel Aviv and Jaffa were united in the single municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Spensky (talkcontribs) 06:16, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
