Pagliai’s
Pizza, founded in 1957, in Ames, Iowa was the first Pagliai's pizzeria in
the United States. |

In
the Early 50’s Sam Pagliai began selling pizza from the backroom his
bar called the Sportsman’s Lounge in Ames. I was not long and patrons
were lined up for his pizza. Sam soon sold the bar and then opened his first
Pagliai’s Pizza which was located in ISU campus town Ames, Iowa 1957.

Sam
was joined in the business with his brothers Armond and Aldo Pagliai. From
which together they opened up shop in Iowa City, Iowa and Charleston Illinois.
The families also setup others in the Pagliai’s Pizza business. Pagliai’s
Pizza in Grinnell, Iowa was established in 1963. The most recent Pagliai’s
Pizza opened in Johnston Iowa was established in 1995. |
