If the current page transcluding this template is in the Template: namespace, then this template inserts the literal text {{PAGENAME}}.

Otherwise, the template inserts the current page name, i.e. functions like the {{PAGENAME}} magic word.

This is useful in a template so that when one views the template one is not confused by the template name appearing.
