Harold "Paddy" Carolin was a rugby union player who represented South Africa 3 times, once as captain. He was the first player to captain a the South Africa national rugby union team abroad after Paul Roos had to withdraw.
Carolin is also credited as the inventor of the 3-4-1 scrum formation
