A packaged terminal air conditioner (often PTAC) is a type of self-contained air conditioning and heating system commonly found in hotels and apartments. Many are designed to go through a wall, having vents and heat sinks both inside and outside. A standard dimension of 42"×16" (1067 x 406 mm)[1] for the through-the-wall component is used to ensure some level of interchangeability. PTACs are used to heat or cool a single living space quietly and efficiently using only electricity.
