PacifiCare Health Systems (former NYSE symbol PHS) was a Fortune 500 healthcare company based in Cypress, California. It was acquired by UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) in late 2005, which continues to market health plans under the PacifiCare name.

PacifiCare has more than 3 million health plan members and approximately 10 million specialty plan members nationwide. PacifiCare offers individuals, employers and Medicare beneficiaries a variety of consumer-driven health care and life insurance products.

The company had 7,500 employees nationwide at the time of the acquisition by UnitedHealth.
