Description

P-51C bomber escort, built in the 1940’s and powered by a Rolls Royce Merlin engine. “INA the Macon Belle” which is in the foreground, was named and flown by Lt. Colonel Lee "Buddy" Archer, a member of the 302nd Fighter Squadron, 322nd Fighter Group, also known as the “Tuskegee Airmen”. During his career Lt Colonel Archer shot down five enemy aircraft, thus becoming an Ace. “ALICE-JO” can also be seen in this photograph.
