Pöytyä (IPA: [ˈpøyt̪yæ]) is a municipality of Finland.
It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Finland Proper region. The municipality has a population of 6,220 (2004-12-31) and covers an area of 409.14 km² of which 0.40 km² is water. The population density is 15.22 inhabitants per km².
The municipality is unilingually Finnish. The municipality has previously also been known as Pöytis in Swedish documents, but is today referred to as Pöytyä also in Swedish.[1]
The neighbouring municipality of Karinainen was merged into Pöytyä in the beginning of 2005.
