Real name: Lars Frers (active in the German wikipedia since 2004, see link in the navigation bar to the left) I am currently a postdoc at the post-graduate school “Topology of Technology”. I studied in Kiel, Berlin, and Bloomington/IN, and I teach sociology at Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany.
My main fields of interest are: classic social theory (Ibn Khaldun, Marx, Simmel, Mannheim, Frankfurt School, Goffman, Garfinkel, Foucault, and Bourdieu) , space, materiality & the body (Merleau-Ponty, Bachelard, Sennett); urban studies (Lefebvre); science and technology studies (Latour, Pickering).
I’m working ethnographically and make much use of digital video in my studies. However, my main interest is to put my ethnographic work in a wider, societal, political, and theoretical context.
I try to make as many of my studies available as possible, relying on the Creative Commons License – you can find most of them on my website: studies, essays, photographs, and some movies and sound clips.
I am also writing a weblog under the nickname ozean.
