Ovingham Bridge

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ovingham Bridge is a bridge across the River Tyne in Ovingham, England. It was built in 1833 by the Ovingham Bridge Company. It was originally opened as a toll bridge. The bridge was released from toll in 1945 but the toll house still exists near the Prudhoe railway station.

In 1974 the footbridge was erected downstream of the main bridge. Recently the bridge has undergone a strengthening programme after the January floods of 2005.
