Talk:Ourmedia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The article should be topped with disambiguation page from the academic network, which also needs its page written (again). For an academic network and conference, several hundred members is actually a lot ;) Unlike a website, where 'members' just create user accounts and its not difficult to have tens or hundreds of thousands of members, a network like OurMedia/Nuestrosmedios has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars from universities and private foundations in order to have physical meetings of academic professionals studying and publishing on community media, over the past 5 years. See their page at http://www.ourmedianet.org, which includes many links to conference reports and publications.

So, please let's return the disambiguation page, and get the Nuestr@sMedios article back up, too. s.chock

I've removed the part about Nuestr@sMedios since it has only 279 members so probably doesn't warrant an article about it. If it does need an article, it should go at a different title to prevent confusion. Angela. 05:11, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

this article needs disambiguation. There's a lot of confusion already about entirely disconnected entities named 'ourmedia'.

> OURMedia/NUESTROSMedios is an international network of citizens media researchers and practitioners, with over 500 members in 30+ countries which was founded in 2001, a.o.s with funding from the Ford Foundation. It had an article but was removed because it did not meet wikipedia guidelines at the time (apparently).

[edit] Requested move

Building off of the above, this is an official discussion for moving the page. Using fark.com as an example, it seems to me that the appropriate name would be Ourmedia.org. Is something more specific necessary? Ourmedia (media community)? —Parhamr 20:40, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Disambiguation is only necessary when there is more than one article, not just when there is more than one concept. It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. --Stemonitis 08:35, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Ourmedialogo.gif

Image:Ourmedialogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:33, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
