Ourproject.org is a collaborative initiative born in 2002 thought for the construction and maintenance of free knowledge projects, extending the ideas and methodology of free software to social areas.

The idea behind ourproject.org is to be a tool which encourages the cooperative work effort of all types of people from every part of the world, promoting the coming together of people and the exchange of ideas and solutions to problems, with the condition that the results of the projects will remain freely accessible to whoever may find them useful, within this tool. Its goal is the development of free/libre projects of any kind, preferably which are not related with software.

Ourproject.org offers free service to Free/Libre Projects collaborators (of any topic) offering easy access to the projects, mailing lists, message boards/forums, website hosting, subdomains, databases, permanent file archival (FTP), full backups, wikis, total web-based administration... and other parallel minor ones (surveys, task management, news, documentation management, registring, stats) or focused on the programmer-community (CVS, SVN).

Nowadays [April 2008] it is hosting 448 projects and 1,548 users.
