Our Kingdom is a manga by Naduki Koujima about the relationship of Akira Nonaka, a boy from the countryside, and his cousin, Kyle Rei Basil. It is published in English by Digital Manga Publishing in 5 volumes, the last volume to be published on January 18, 2007. This is due to the licensing in Japan. The company, Biblios that originally published Our Kingdom, went bankrupt and any further English publishing has been delayed.

Volume One
After his grandmother's death, who he lived with after his parents passed away, Akira Nonaka is told that he has remaining living relatives and is brought to the Takatou household. Learning that his grandmother from his father's side is the head of the Takatou family, one of the most wealthy and influential families in Japan, and that he will have to compete with his cousin Rei Basil as candidates to become heir and future head of the Takatou family, Akira is angered. The cold interest of his grandmother makes him decide to leave the household and return to his old home, having no interest in the Takatou name. Trying to escape from the Takatou mansion, he is stopped by Rei, who convinces him to stay with him there. Later Rei's interests in Akira become more apparent as he makes advances towards Akira. Rei being incredibly direct with his affections, Akira is at first startled by them, but then realizes that it would bother him more if it were a joke Rei would play on him.

Akira Nonaka - The protagonist of the story. An orphan who is brought to live with his remaining relatives on his father's side to compete for the position of heir. Gets lost very easily and kidnapped (volumes 1,2,4) a lot.
Kyle Rei Basil - Akira's cousin and rival to the position as heir. He also acts as the lead romantic interest for Akira. He does not show emotions until volume 4. Is VERY overprotective of Akira.
Shizuka Okumiya - Runs the estate the boys live on. Also acts as a bodyguard for Akira.
Russel Shigure Kurosaki- Rei's bodyguard and Okumiya's romantic interest. Looks up to his older brother to a fault. In volume 4 he becomes Raoul's bodyguard. It is mentioned that Shigure looks up to Okumiya as he does his brother.
Yuuji Takatou- Akira's uncle. A bisexual man with a flirtatious nature, but holds a natural head for business. He likes the energetic yet fun to bully type(Shigure). In volume 5 however his love interest becomes less cloudy.
Wilhelm Sagiri Kurosaki- Shigure's older brother. Seemingly cold and emotionless, he insists his brother is unfit to be a bodyguard and for a while takes over the position of guarding Rei. In volume 4 he becomes Rei's bodyguard.
Raoul de Bavier Basil - Rei's nephew and rival. He's constantly trying to get Rei to simply acknowledge his presence, and sees Akira as a means to an end in that regard. He likes Akira, however he does not realize it yet.
Tamaki Kaminozuki- One of Rei and Akira's school mates. Hiyori is his childhood friend whom he loves to tease. It seems as though he is blackmailing him with something.
Hiyori Hozumi- One of Rei and Akira's classmates. Tamaki is his childhood friend who enjoys teasing him.
