[edit] Photo caption

Okay, there's a discrepency. Caption to the photo reads "Marta (Yvonne Craig) as a green Orion Slave Girl". Appearances section reads "Marta (Yvonne Craig) was a green-skinned seductive woman in Whom Gods Destroy but her species was not identified". Not being a Trekxpert, I've no idea which is true. But a picture from the recent Enterprise episode would be good, too! Drjon 22:23, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

I write that her species was not identified and it wasn't in that episode, though her makeup and behaviour is clearly modeled on Susan Oliver's in "The Cage." If you want to get really fussy about it, the picture caption should be changed. If there's any non-broadcast information (like script notes or DVD commentaries) that confirms her character is Orion, may as well mention it. Funny thing is, if she's not "officially" Orion, and William O'Connell and Susan Oliver weren't "official" Orions, then no Orion officially appeared in the original series. I am a Trekxpert and yes Mata was indeed an Orion Slave Girl. Captain Kirk was not labeled as a human but we know that he was. The point is that the conclusion can be reached via inference.

In the episode "The Menagerie" Dr. Boyce says: You, an Orion trader, dealing in green animal women slaves?

We then see Vina with Green skin during one of the illusions. The Talosians had picked up memories of the conversation with Dr. Boyce and created the illusion of Vina being an Orion animal woman slave.

In the same episode Commodore Mendez or at least an illusion of him says that "They are like animals, vicious, seductive."

Thus the conclusion is that Orion Slave girls are:

  • A. Green
  • B. Seductive

The conclusion is that Vina was an Orion slave girl because she was "green" and was dancing in a most seductive manner. It can be concluded that Mata from the episode "Whom Gods Destroy" is an Orion slave girl because she is "green" and wears a similar attire as Vina. Thus, it can be inferred that both women are Orion slave girls without them being specifically mentioned so in the episodes. FrankWilliams 03:55, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

On the Federation page, it links to Orion as a Federation member, but this page disagrees... 88.111.87.243 21:55, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merge Orion Syndicate into Orion (Star Trek)

Agree: the Orion Syndicate article really can't stand on its own. Merge it. 68.117.211.187 17:18, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] OR tag

Are there any outstanding original research concerns, or can this tag be removed? Alai 13:59, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merge and rewrite

I am in the process of merging in Orion slave girl and rewriting this article so that I can remove all three tags at the top of this page. I've probably missed some of the episodes with portrayals of Orions, so just add them. I also expect that there will be needs to edit other parts of the article, so as always on Wikipedia, please go ahead. But for now, give me a few hours for this rewrite, because I'm rewriting it in place. I'll be done by midnight (MST), but if I get done earlier, I'll post here. — Val42 04:40, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I've finished. I tried the best that I can, but feel free to fix it. — Val42 05:14, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
