Origin is a word meaning "beginning." In this sense, it may refer to:

• Origin (start), the beginning, starting-point, cause, or ultimate source, from which a thing is derived;
• Origin (mathematics), the point where the coordinate axis of the system intersect;
• Origin of the universe, also known as the "Big Bang";
• Origin of life, also known as abiogenesis (see also: creation myth for mytho-religious explanations);
• Origin of humanity, the study of human evolution;
• Anatomical origin, an anatomical concept used with the locomotive, nervous, and circulatory systems;
• Origin of replication, is the location at which DNA replication is initiated;
