Order of Prince Edward Island

The Order of Prince Edward Island, established in 1996, is the highest honour of the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island. A maximum of 3 individuals are awarded annually.

When a Lieutenant Governor is sworn in, he/she will automatically receive and become a member of the Order of Prince Edward Island and represent as the Chancellor of the Order during the terms of office.

The Order recognizes individuals who have made a contributions to the social, economic and cultural life of the province.

[edit] Eligibility

Anyone presently living in Prince Edward Island, or former long-term residents of the province, is eligible to be considered for investiture in the Order. Elected federal, provincial or municipal representatives and members of the judiciary are not eligible for nomination while still holding office. Posthumous nominations are not accepted.
