OpenGCL is a Modular class library that covers the full spectrum of GIS functionality. The product is competitive with any like-product on the market, with the added advantage that it integrates seamlessly with OpenInfo's application development framework.
[edit] Technology
The library is implemented in 100% pure Java, relying only on open source platforms. Other Java GIS platforms rely extensively on third party platforms, whereas OpenGCL is completely standalone.
The technology is intended primarily for power users on intranet systems built on top of an application development framework – a framework composed of server-side servlets and client-side applets or web start applications. Client-side applications carry out the bulk of the business logic processing with sleek GIS user interfaces, while having full access to spatial and tabular data inside corporate databases. Applets and java web-start applications built with OpenGCL can be used over the internet.
