Made several edits to formatting and some slight prose edits, but wikifying some links. Not sure if it stil needs more copyedit work to remove cleanup tag. MarkBuckles 11:48, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Model In South Africa

Hi

First off i'm from South Africa, and I owned an Opel Rekord that i do not see in this article. It was produced here from around 1990 to 1994.

There are 3 models that i did not see in this article, they are as follows:

Opel Rekord 380i GSi: It had 4 wheel disk brakes with ABS. Front discs ventilated. Engine was a naturally aspirated GM 3.8L V6 L27 in 90 degrees with 8.5 : 1 compression. Was rear wheel driven 5 speed manual. GSi seats with leather trim.

Opel Rekord 380i CD:

Same as the GSi except that it was a (i think) 5 speed automatic with full leather seats. Came out standard with electric windows.

Opel Rekord 380iE: Only saw these on the road, dont know to much about it. Should be running the same engine (3.8L V6 L27).

Maybe it was south africa specific, i dont know - i have some pictures of my rekord someone. I will try and post them.

Since Opel was using the Omega name at the time, it's more likely the South African Rekord was a rebadged Holden Commodore (the American 3.8L V6 seems to back this theory). --Pc13 12:08, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 1957 Opel Estates in Thailand

Hi - I'm in Chiangmai, Thailand. I have found 2 Opel Rekord (Olympia ?) Estates - one is claimed to be 1957 vintage and the other is uncertain but of a very similar age. I am considering restoring them - one or both - and would like to know more about them. If they are the same exactly - hard to tell because they are far apart - I may only restore one and use the other as a spares source vehicle. Any help to identify would be appreciated. I have photos if these would be helpful. Hope to hear soon. Malcolm Logan
