Operation Hush was to be an amphibious landing on the Belgian coast, supported by a breakout attack from Nieuwpoort and the Yser bridgehead. Due to its heavy defenses and fortifications Operation Hush was cancelled and no landing ever occurred. The British chose Middelkerke as the site for the landings instead because its defenses were much weaker.
