Opera News
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Opera News is one of America’s leading classical music magazines. Published through the Lincoln Center offices of the Metropolitan Opera Guild, Opera News was initially focused primarily on the Met, particularly the Saturday afternoon live broadcasts that have been a feature of the company through the last century. With time, the periodical broadened its scope to include the international opera scene. Currently published monthly, the magazine contains opera related articles, artist and production profiles, and reviews of performances in the United States and Europe as well as recordings, videos, and audio equipment.
The Editor-in-Chief is currently F. Paul Driscoll. Gregory Downer has been the magazine's Art Director for over 25 years. Regular contributors to the magazine include Brian Kellow, Justin Davidson, Peter G. Davis, Tim Page, Judith Malafronte, Mark Thomas Ketterson, Martin Bernheimer, Anne Midgette, Drew Minter, Phillip Kennicott, Anthony Tommasini and Adam Wasserman.
The magazine is also available online, with archives going back to 1949. Some of the online content is available only to subscribers to the print edition.
