Onifai is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro in the Italian region of Sardinia, located about 200 km north of Cagliari, about 40 km east of Nuoroand just 5 km inland from the gulf of Orosei. Economy is based merely on agricolture and shepherding. Onifai is well known for its percorino cheese (most of production is exported in the European continent, USA and Canada) and the vernaccia; excellent wine made with Cannonau grapes and appreciated in the entire country. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 765 and an area of 43.0 km².[1]
Onifai borders the following municipalities: Galtellì, Irgoli, Orosei, Siniscola.
