Google Maps: show map

In Wikipedia you can use this simple case sensitive template whenever you need to show a precise geographic location on Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/).

Blank spaces in between must be converted to '%20'.

• The following opens Google Maps main page to [1] and shows New York City:

 {{OnGoogleMaps|40°42'51.00N74°0'23.00W}}

• At the same way, with a decimal syntax, the following opens Google Maps main page to [2] and shows New York City:

 {{OnGoogleMaps|40.72N74W}}

• Names as well are accepted in spite of coordinates (New York) [3]:

 {{OnGoogleMaps|New%20York}}

• When necessary the same template can be used with address strings (no blank spaces):

 {{OnGoogleMaps|1000%205th%20Ave.,%20New%20York,%20New%20York%2010028-0198%20,%20USA}}

Opens Google Maps main page to: 1000 5th Ave., New York, New York 10028-0198, USA [4] and shows the New York Metropolitan Museum.

• When using Geographic coordinates, as described in the article Geographic coordinate conversion, please note that it will be better to put these formats (no spaces):
  • 40°42'51.00N74°0'23.00W
  • 40.620000N74.000000W
  • or: 40.62N74W
