I am Oneforlogic, a contributor of minor edits and occasional discussion and fact checking on Wikipedia since 2007.

I find it extremely interesting that open source software development and information sharing really work. We tend to automatically assume that most of the unknown people we drive by on the highway or walk past in the supermarket are idiots, yet Wiki projects are based largely on the contributions of those unknown assumed-to-be-idiots. This kind of thing makes me a little more hopeful that, despite rampant human population growth and resource overuse, we might eventually be able to curtail the constant regional conflicts and raise global quality of life. It will take effort; exactly the kind of effort thousands of people put into expanding and cleaning Wikipedia articles every day.
